Are you happy with your current treatment for Fibromyalgia? This could mean your medication, your pain management, how your doctor treat your sleep issues, etc? I would venture to guess that most of your answers are NO! And, many of you have just given up because you feel like you've tried EVERYTHING, or that your doctor has told you that THEY'VE tried everything.

Did you know that, say you are being treated by a rhematologist for your Fibromyalgia, that there are approximately 1.7 rheumatologists for every 3,000 Fibromyalgia patients (2005 ACR workforce study)? You know what that means,  that not only are there not enough doctors, but those doctors don't have the time to answer our questions and treat our conditions properly. Here is where Fibromyalgia Advisors and Coaches come in to save the day! We can help you find doctors to address your Fibromyalgia needs. But, as I've stated in previous blogs, Internists are other options However, if you REALLY want to think out of the box, here are some options you can do on your own. Six options are listed in the article, and, I'm sure some have been brought up with one of your doctors before.

I'm sure you've already clicked on the article and I can hear a collective GROAN. Before you get upset, annoyed, and close down this tab in frustration, I would only post this because I have worked on all of these myself. I have seen a HUGE difference in how I feel, and have helped and am still helping other clients do the same.

My guess is that the biggest groaner is EXERCISE. I've complained, groaned, and made faces at my own doctors for suggesting this; HOWEVER, now I've found a program constructed just for people like us! It's developed by someone who has Fibromyalgia and starts off super slow with gentle exercise. If you are interested in more information about this program, please send me a message (not reply to this post) and I'd be happy to forward it on. But, I'm working out 5 days a week, right now at just 15-20 minutes a day and feeling great!

The next one that people are uncomfortable with, and often fearful of, is diet change. For me, this was another huge game changer. Eliminating gluten and sugar from my diet reduced my pain, fatigue, and fog. It's not an instantaneous fix. None of these are, but, you have to realize that as of right now, Fibromyalgia is a lifetime disorder and we will have to work hard to not let it take over our bodies.

The other natural changes listed in the article are: decreasing your sugar intake (I avoid all processed and added sugars as well as sugar substitutes), adding Omega-3s (which can help with inflammation), addressing sleep (something I've spoken a lot about in previous blogs), and reducing stress (something that seems hard but can be as easy as doing a puzzle, spending time with a friend or watching a favorite movie). More details about these are in the article.

For my own Fibromyalgia treatment, I have used every single one of these "treatments" alongside my medication and additional supplements. I have also helped clients with some of these, especially working on going gluten and sugar free, sleep, and reducing stress. If you feel like you need help with any of these areas, and would like to talk to me, send me a message through this site and we can set up a free consultation. Through that consultation we can determine whether we are a good match and what coaching services entail. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
